Gum and root treatment

Periodontal and root canal treatment encompasses a range of medical procedures aimed at addressing problems related to the gums and tooth roots, such as gingivitis (gum inflammation), gum recession, or periodontitis (inflammation of the tissues surrounding the roots). If left untreated, these problems can lead to tooth loss over time, so early intervention is crucial.
Gum treatment typically involves thorough gum cleaning to remove plaque and bacteria that can lead to gingivitis. Treatment may require techniques such as deep subgingival cleaning (including scaling and root planing) to level the roots and remove bacteria that accumulate in hard-to-reach areas. In advanced cases of gingivitis or periodontal disease, the patient may need periodontal surgery to repair damaged tissue or regenerate gum tissue.
Root canal treatment: In cases of tooth root inflammation or deep decay that has reached the roots, root canal treatment (also known as root canal therapy) is performed. In this procedure, the dentist cleans and removes the infected tissue inside the root canal and then fills it with a special material to prevent future infection. Root canal treatment helps save teeth that would otherwise be lost due to infection or deep decay.
Causes of gum and root problems include poor oral hygiene, smoking, genetics, and certain diseases such as diabetes. To prevent these problems, it is essential to follow a good dental care routine, including regular brushing, flossing, and visiting the dentist for regular checkups.
